Marjon Peeters

Lawyer

Introduction:

Marjon Ristra- Peeters (1976) studied law at the Tilburg University and specialized in criminal law. After graduating she worked as a senior legal counsel at the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Services.

From 2006 until 2012 she worked as a lawyer with lawyers firms Van Appia & Van der Lee advocaten and Hagg & van Koesveld advocaten. Since October 2012 she is working as an independent lawyer practicing immigration law and administrative law.

From August 2018 until September 2019 Marjon was teaching constitutional and administrative law at the University of Curacao (UOC). During this time she was also chairlady of the exam committee of the Faculty of Law and secretary of the Caribbean Legal Magazine (CJB). Since September 2019 Marjon is working at the BdSP office in Paramaribo, Surinam and is also working as an BdSP associate at Naarendorp lawyers in Paramaribo.

Side activities

Until September 2018 Marjon was the chair lady of the Dutch Foundation of Immigration Experts (SVMA). She was also teaching immigration law at OSR, SMN and shortly administrative law at the University of Amsterdam. Next to this, she is a member of the examination committee administrative law of the professional education for lawyers in the Netherlands. She is also a member of the Legal Aid Immigration Affairs Working Group (WRV).

Marjon speaks Dutch, English and German.
